Google algorithms and search techniques

Google Caffeine
It is a new google search indexing system. When you search web you are not searching the live web, actually you are searching in the google index. In Google Caffeine it provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than last index, and it's the largest collection of web content offered.
To refresh a layer of the old index, google would analyze the entire web, which meant there was a significant delay between when robots found a page and made it available to you. With Caffeine, we analyze the web in small portions like if any new page found or new information on existing page then google update it directly to its search index on a continuous basis, globally. That means you can find fresher information than ever before—no matter when or where it was published.

Some facts about google caffeine :-
1/ New Google relies more on keywords.
2/ Search is moving into real-time.
3/ Caffeine processes hundreds of thousands of pages in parallel. If this were a pile of paper it would grow three miles taller every second.
4/ Caffeine takes up nearly 100 million gigabytes of storage in one database and adds new information at a rate of hundreds of thousands of gigabytes per day.
5/ If these were stacked end-to-end they would go for more than 40 miles.

Four test for google caffeine
1/ More faster speed

2/ More accurate results

3/ Temporal relevancy
4/ Bigger index size

Google Farmer algorithm
Google farmer algorithm change that affected as much as 11,8% of all US searches on Google. Google actually makes about 500 changes to its search-results ranking algorithm.

When I say content scrapers, I actually mean websites that publish content already produced by other sources. It’s main target is to punish content farms and sites with no unique and low quality content. (Content farms = sites that scrapes the web and “copy” other sites content and publishes it as its own). Google engineers has named this update Panda.

sites that loses Google rankings are sites with RSS-generated content. Those are sites that just takes the RSS-feed from other sites and publishes a part of each article on their site.

MFA sites are often sites with low quality content that also will see a drop in rankings. (MFA = made for adsense, made for ads, made for affiliate, sites that are made ONLY for sending people further to other pages and earn commissions).

  2. Nice info! All these panda updates are making life of an seo agency so much harder than it used to be. I guess it's good though since it increases the quality of the internet content, but it also requires so much more effort now to get your page ranked higher. I guess there are pros and cons with everything.. I think it's intended more for the benefit of the customer than for the disadvantage of the internet marketers. It just depends on from what perspective you look at it.
